Bullet For My Valentine – Worthless (Video Review)

Bullet For My Valentine are a self-subscribed “hard rock band with metal influences”. They come from Bridgend, Wales and have done extremely well for themselves, having released their fifth studio album, Venom, last year.
.

.
They first formed in 1997 under the moniker Jeff Killed John doing Metallica and Nirvana covers before starting to write their own songs. It wasn’t until 2003 that they changed their name to what we know now, changed musical direction and signed a five album deal with Sony BMG.
.

Their latest video Worthless (directed by Stuart Birchall) is as dark and moody as the song and focuses on the band playing. With such a powerful song, the film clip doesn’t need to be anything too fancy and it helps you focus on the lyrics.
.

Bullet For My Valentine pride themselves on their song writing and Worthless is no exception. With lyrics like “you can keep all your apologies; those words are useless to me” you can feel the anger, the hurt and, for this girl anyway, makes you want to give them all a cwtch* and tell them that you won’t let them down.
.

While I have never been a fan of ‘screamo” music, Bullet For My Valentine always have the perfect mix of melodic singing, “screamo” and great lyrics. These are a few of the reasons that these humble guys from Bridgend, Wales have been so successful in what they do (that…and talent of course).
.

Iechyd da** for the music guys and hopefully, we get to see Bullet For My Valentine downunder sooner rather than later.

*Cwtch – Welsh for hug/cuddle

**Iechyd da – Welsh for Cheers.

My name is Karen and I have been taking photos of bands since 2011. As I get more and more hooked on photography, I have also started branching out into anything that comes my way (including reviews etc) and I am starting to turn my passion into a business (living the dream!). I absolutely love my live music, especially the Perth Scene (some would even say addicted). I enjoy getting out there as often as I can, taking shots and chatting to people so if you are in Perth, come say hi :)
