Melbourne band Ocean Grove has just released the second single off their upcoming album, ‘The Rhapsody Tapes’, due for release on the 3rd February 2017 via UNFD.

‘Intimate Alien’ follows ‘These Boys Light Fires’ which was released in December 2016, and gives us a taste of the variety of musical styles the band incorporates to make their unique sound. The band has even proudly invented their own genre for their music, aptly titled ‘Odd World’.
.
‘Intimate Alien’ utilises a slightly wider variety of musical elements than ‘These Boys Light Fires’, in that it has the underlying heavier sound that is the foundation of all the band’s music, but also incorporates nu-metal elements and some spacy background synth and eerie bass, fit for a song with “alien” in the title.

The shifting between wild and tame moments and the catchy repeating “I see you’re looking at me with the ice-cold stare” verse also helps make Intimate Alien’ an accessible track to many.
.
Recorded and produced entirely by the band in drummer Sam Bassal’s bedroom, ‘The Rhapsody Tapes’ album “explores a fascination with a warped sense of reality” says vocalist Luke Holmes. This is already apparent with ‘Intimate Alien’ in particular, and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the album sounds.

Hi, my name's Kaitlyn and I recently graduated UTas with a BA in Journalism and Photography. My ultimate aim is to become a music journalist and photographer; attending as many local and interstate gigs as I can. While I may not have a world of experience to my name just yet, I'm keen to get better and look forward to whatever exciting opportunities the future might bring.
