“Seeing the singer embracing hip hop as an influence and incorporating it into a layered and cinematic sound to underscore his iconic voice — it’s a truly exciting move.” — Music Feeds

“With the help of some producers du jour, the Irish singer-songwriter expertly blends his deep love for acoustic soundscapes and hip-hop on his fully realized third record.” — Pitchfork
      .
“The strain of 21st-century neo-soul that helped close the gap between the likes of Bon Iver and Kanye West has a formidable new ambassador in James Vincent McMorrow.” — NPR
    .

After emerging as one of the highlight tracks on his brilliant third album, We Move, James Vincent McMorrow today releases the official video for the captivating single, ‘Get Low.’

The new video follows the story of the complicated love lives of a group of New York teens, and calls to mind Larry Clark’s infamously brutal and beautiful film Kids.
      .
‘Get Low’ was the second official track to be released from We Move after he introduced the innovative, r’n’b and hip-hop influenced sound of his new album with the head-turning single ‘Rising Water.’ However, ‘Get Low’ has quickly established itself as a fan favourite, climbing to over 8.2 million streams on Spotify alone.
      .
McMorrow had previously released a studio performance video for the song  its raw, rockier edge in the live setting re-establishing the spine-tingling impact of first listening to the original album version.

McMorrow also recently discussed the song’s writing and production process in detail in an episode of the excellent podcast series, Song Exploder. Listen to him break down the song to its bare elements and explain how the track was deeply influenced by the production skills of Pharrell Williams here.
      .
James and his band are now poised to return to Australian shores in 2017 with a tour kicking off March 1 in Perth. His whirlwind trip to the country earlier this year to perform at Splendour In The Grass was one of the highlights of the festival, and included a breath-taking performance of the then unreleased ‘Get Low,’ which connected with the crowd instantly.       .
This tour will also be his first full Australian round of shows since the lauded 2014 tour for his album Post Tropical, the pinnacle of which saw him sell out two nights at the Sydney Opera House.
      .
McMorrow will be supported for select dates by rising Brisbane/Byron Bay rock trio Moreton, whose debut EP Specimen was released earlier this year to critical acclaim off the back of singles like ‘The Water’ and ‘Specimen.’
