    TKAY MAIDZA

    RELEASES

    OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR

    ‘SIMULATION’

    Tkay

“… blessedly obfuscating the memory of one Iggy Azalea and instead earning comparisons to the far more talented Azealia Banks (in talent, not attitude – anyone who’s seen Maidza perform live knows the girl is pure sunshine).” Rolling Stone
    .
“In the last three years, the 20 year old Adelaide emcee has gone from the schoolyard to the world-stage. Her debut album takes her rapid-fire flow and teams it up with an eclectic list of producers…  to create a release that’s ready for the dance floor.”Triple J Feature Album
    .
“TKAY positions Maidza as one of the most promising artists going around… and heralds the proper arrival of the future first lady of Australian music.”The Music
    .

Tkay Maidza unleashes the official video for tropical dancefloor anthem Simulation; the second official single to be released from her debut album TKAYwhich is out now via Dew Process / UMA.
    .
The playful video, which premiered via The Fader was filmed in Los Angeles during Tkay’s most recent US tour and directed by duo Lamar + Nik, who have created mini-movie music videos for the likes of the Pixies Magnolia. The clip is a literal translation of the lyrics, capturing Tkay bouncing and singing her way through a simulated virtual world made up of projections of light and colour, her swagger and joyful approach encapsulating the energy and effervescence of her boisterous live show in the real world.
    .
‘Simulation’ finds Maidza infusing melody-driven dance-pop with a sweet and tender soulfulness. Co-written by Tkay, along with her DJ and producer LK McKay and George Maple, Tkay says the track is about overcoming complacency and “hoping to find something real after everything that is calculated and planned disappears. It’s so common that people get lazy when they feel content because they have partially achieved their goals and are living the way they dreamt about, thus beginning to think it’ll last forever….  I have noticed that things constantly change, so when something doesn’t go to plan it’s like cracks in the simulation become visible.”

The track has already reached over 1 million streams globally, peaked at #1 on the AMRAP Metro Chartand in the Top 10 Shazam Future Hits chart. Internationally, Zane Lowe selected ‘Simulation’ as his ‘World Record’ on Beats 1.

Tkay’s debut has been garnering rave reviews across the globe and was showcased across Australian airwaves after being awarded the celebrated triple j Feature Album, as well as FBi’s ‘Album Of The Week’.

Maidza has just wrapped up a lap of the country for her successful national ‘TKAY’ album tour and has also been named Hip Hop Live Act of the Year at the National Live Music Awards. She was also the recipient of two awards at the SA Music Awards for Best Song for ‘Ghost’ and Best International Collaboration for ‘Do It Right’ with French producer Martin Solveig. Her next run of dates will see her hit the east coast of Australia for The Falls Music & Arts Festival to play alongside the likes of Childish Gambino, London Grammar, The Avalanches and Violent Soho.

    .
Australian Open 2017 has just this morning, dropped their spectacular line-up for The Open Sessions. Maidza will be joining a host of Aussie and international acts at the Australian Open Live Stage, with Birds of Tokyo, DMA’S, The Temper Trap, Jimmy Eat World and The Living End.
